Assigning Accounts to Collections

The information provided during assignment of any account is vital in procuring payment from consumers. The more information we have the more successful our collection efforts will be at collecting the balance owed. It’s very important for creditors to obtain as much information about their customers as possible before any debt is incurred. Below are some items that should be included with any new assignment:

  • Name(s) of responsible party
  • Guarantor and/or patient information
  • Complete payment history
  • Amount due
  • Date of last charge
  • Copy of last invoice
  • Breakdown of finance charges and/or additional fees
  • Employment and bank information
  • Copy of lease agreement or other contract
  • Copy of agreement authorizing collection fees
